Performance Improvement:  Taking the Magic Out of the Transfer of Training - Tuesday, May 13th

Join us for the kick-off of this new series!

These quarterly programs will cover topics from the “Focus” area of the ASTD Competency Model such as Designing Learning, Evaluation & Measurement, and Managing the Learning Function

John Swinney

John Swinney, CPT, Associate Development and Planning Manager with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., will be our main speaker for this month’s meeting.

Transfer of training is sometimes referred to as that almost magical link between what happens in the classroom and what is supposed to happen after your trainees go back to the real world.  It doesn’t take too long for people in our profession to realize that there is more to transfer of training than good training design or an effective delivery process.

There is no magic, but you will see some examples of how these tools – along with some careful planning and hard work – have made a significant difference between training that works and training that was merely a nice event while it lasted.

Trainer’s Toolbox – Performance Support Tools

Bill Luce, Sr. Manager of Corporate Learning Solutions with Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., will lead us through this month’s Trainer’s Toolbox.  He will cover a few tools that will provide solutions to our real world work problems and offer the help that our customers are looking for. They are cost effective, performance based, and most of the time easy to develop and implement.

Tuesday, May 13th
11:00 am to 1:00 pm (lunch is included!).

Sponsorship

We’ve added a sponsorship program to allow area companies to become partners in our growth. Over the next few months, we’ll be making upgrades in our programs to improve our member value. Financial support through sponsorship is critical to the completion of those programs.

Sponsors received special perks such as further discounts on membership and meetings, and exposure to our training audience.
